Why am I running for Justice of the Peace?
The three main reasons I'm running for JP are to:
• Increase county finance transparency and accountability
• Increase knowledge of and access to community resources
• Encourage involvement in local politics while providing District 13 voters with another option for representation
What is a Justice of the Peace?
A Justice of the Peace (JP) is an elected official in county government who sits on the Quorum Court. The Quorum Court acts as the legislative body of the county and can levy taxes, appropriate public funds, preserve peace and order, secure freedom from harmful activities and more. The Benton County Quorum court is composed of 15 JPs, each serving a two-year term. There are currently no term limits for justices.
